“Why don’t we go where we want to go?”

“Why don’t we go where we want to go?” – This question became the starting point for my master’s thesis in the “Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Business Consulting” program. It led to a research project involving over 250 professionals from corporate environments.
What We Explored
We explored states familiar to many professionals:
– Feeling drained, even when everything appears “fine’ on the surface
– Uncertainty about what you truly want next in your career
– Burnout, procrastination, and a persistent sense of being “stuck”
– Craving change, yet repeatedly feeling paralyzed
– The desire to launch your own project turning into years of preparation without action
– Having clear dreams, but no forward momentum

Our hypothesis: the cause of these states is not laziness, lack of discipline, or insufficient motivation. The real cause is an internal prohibition against pleasure, rest, and physical well-being.

Key Research Insight
When we live by “must” for years and deny ourselves the permission to desire and fulfill those desires, the body begins to resist:
– Fatigue and anxiety increase
– Energy and concentration decline
– Interest in work fades
– Procrastination intensifies

If these experiences resonate with you, I invite you to take a brief, anonymous survey. It’s designed as a space for gentle self-reflection, where you can explore how an internal prohibition against rest and pleasure manifests specifically in your professional life.
